Turn an animated GIF into a datamoshed GIF by routing it through a browser-side video datamosh pipeline and converting the result back into a downloadable GIF.

How GIF datamoshing works

This page converts your GIF frames into a temporary video stream, removes the new scene keyframe after the anchor frame, lets delta frames smear through the held image, and then re-encodes the result back into GIF format.

Upload your GIF
Start with any animated GIF. The page decodes the frames locally in your browser so you can preview the final datamoshed GIF before downloading.

Choose your anchor frame
The anchor frame becomes the held base image. Later motion vectors smear through that frame to create the datamosh effect.

Adjust output controls
Lower the width, change output FPS, or tune the quality and mosh intensity to control how aggressive the effect feels and how large the final GIF is.

Download the datamoshed GIF
The preview is generated from the exact GIF blob you download, so the downloaded animation should match what you see on the page.

Important note about transparency

Datamoshing happens through a temporary video format, so transparent GIF pixels are flattened onto a white background before the final GIF is created.
